Dominic Peckham
Assistant Conductor
Born in Southampton, Dominic holds a BMus(Hons) and Postgraduate Diploma from The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama after leaving a scholarship place at Chetham's School of Music.
He is Artistic Director of iSing UK, Assistant Conductor of the National Youth Choirs fo Great Britain, Guest Musical Director of the National Youth Training Choir of Scotland, Conductor of the Ulster Youth Training Choir, Chorusmaster and Associate Conductor of 2x2 Opera and Adjudicator of the International Collegiate A Cappella Competition. Until June of 2008 he was also Musical Director of The Edinburgh Singers and Orchestra, The Merchant Voices at The Glasgow City Halls, The Edinburgh Youth Choir, and was Assistant Chorusmaster for The Royal Scottish National Orchestra as the recipient of The Alexander Gibson Memorial Fellowship.
Conducting engagements include: Handel's Israel in Egypt and Haydn's Creation for The Edinburgh Singers and Orchestra (Greyfriars Kirk, Edinburgh), Beethoven's Mass in C (St Mary's Cathedral, Edinburgh), Purcell's Dido and Aeneas with Judith Howarth and players from the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (Culross Abbey), Offenbach's Robinson Crusoe (Musical Museum, London), Around the World in Eighty Minutes for the National Youth Training Choir of Great Britain (Coventry Cathedral), The National Police Federation Memorial Service (Edinburgh International Conference Centre), Choral Classics for The Edinburgh Youth Choir (Usher Hall and McEwan Hall, Edinburgh), Haydn's Nelson Mass for Waverley Care, a guest performance with The National Youth Training Choir of Scotland for The British Federation of Youth Orchestras (Central Halls, Edinburgh), Chorusmaster for The Voice at the BBC Proms (The Royal Albert Hall), the Italian premiere of Eric Whitacre's Lux Aurumque and Vaughan Williams' Mass in G Minor (Duomo di Montecatini, Chiesa di Santo Agostino, San Giminignano) and the world premiere of Oliver Searle's Pride, Poverty and Pianos for the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (City Halls, Glasgow). Dominic has prepared Choruses for Stephane Deneve, Richard Hickox OBE, Bernard Labadie, Christopher Bell, Mike Brewer OBE, Sir David Willcocks and John Rutter.
Previous conducting posts include: Assistant Conductor for The National Children's Choir of Great Britain, Guest Conductor for Chetham's Chamber Orchestra and Chamber Choir and The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama Chamber Choirs. He is now in demand as a guest conductor for various ensembles throughout the country as well as for his Choral Workshop Events and Education Days and recent appolntments include Workshop Director for The Trinity Guildhall Open University Key Stage 2 & 3 CPD Programme, and Workshop Director and Guest Adjudicator for BBC Choir of the Year.
Competitions and awards include The Newby Award and The Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music Scholarship 2006/7. Recent and future conducting engagements include: Vivaldi's Gloria (for Channel 4), Bach's Mass in B Minor (St Mary's Cathedral Edinburgh), Chorusmaster and Assistant for James Grossmith for the world premier of Ronald Stevenson's Praise of Ben Doran for the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Scottish Opera, The Mary Wakefield Festival 2009 (Cumbria), Ravel's Daphnis et Chloe (RSNO), Guest Director for Cor Cymru 2009 (S4C) and I Suoni d'Europa for the Ulster Youth Training CHoir (Clonard Monastery, Belfast).
