Alex Jarrett

Assistant Conductor

Alex Jarrett has been studying at Bangor University since 2000, and is currently completing a PhD in performance (piano) with Jana Frenklová, including research on the life and works of French composer/educator Pierre Villette. As a soloist, Alex has given numerous recitals, including a performance of Liszt’s Piano Concerto No.1 with the University Symphony Orchestra.

Alex is also a keen singer, and was a member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain from 1999 until 2003. He has been Assistant Conductor to the National Youth Choirs on several occasions, and frequently has conducting master classes with Jíři Bělohlávek. He also conducts the University Symphony Orchestra and University Chorus in Bangor, most recently in performances of A Colour Symphony by Arthur Bliss, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, and Vaughan Williams’s Dona Nobis Pacem.
